FAQ

Questions, asked and answered.

Everything we get asked about how REGA works, who it's for, and why we think the number is worth paying for.

For players

Is REGA free to play?

Yes. Players never pay anything. Sign up, see the auctions near you, lock in your guesses. Earnings on the leaderboard are points and bragging rights, not cash.

Do I need to own a home to play?

No. Anyone can play. Lots of players are renters, first-home-buyers, or just nosy neighbours who want to know what their suburb is doing.

How does scoring work?

After each auction settles, your guess is scored against the actual sale price. The closer you are, the more points. Past accuracy weights your future guesses — good guessers count more in the crowd estimate, less accurate guessers count less.

What data do you collect about me?

Email, suburb you're watching, and your guesses. We never tie individual guesses or your address to a public profile. Aggregated only. See Privacy.

How do friend leaderboards work?

When the app launches, you'll be able to invite friends by phone or email. Your friends-only leaderboard is private to that group.

For vendors and agents

What does an unlock include?

The accuracy-weighted crowd estimate for one specific property, refreshed day-by-day in the lead-up to its auction, then locked in alongside the actual sale price once the hammer falls. Pay once per property, no subscription.

What does it cost?

Pricing is being finalised. Indicative: from $49 per property. Single unlock, no subscription. Request access to be told the moment it opens.

How is REGA different from Domain's appraisal or PropTrack or CoreLogic?

Those are statistical models trained on past sales. REGA is a live, accuracy-weighted human prediction of this specific upcoming auction. Different inputs, different signal, sometimes very different number.

Trust and methodology

Is REGA gambling?

No. Players never win cash, gift cards, or anything redeemable for money. Points and leaderboards only. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 doesn't apply because nothing of monetary value is staked or won.

Are guesses anonymous?

Yes. We aggregate. We never sell or expose individual guesses tied to identity. Vendors and agents see the crowd estimate, not who guessed what.

Is this a valuation?

No. REGA estimates are crowd-sourced game predictions. They are not valuations, appraisals, or financial advice. Don't use them to set a reserve or make a financial decision without proper professional input.

How do you stop people gaming the system?

Three layers. Cold-start exclusion — brand-new players don't count toward the estimate until they've built a track record on resolved auctions. Track-record weighting — every guess builds your accuracy score, and a sudden silly guess gets your future guesses weighted heavily down or removed entirely. Vested-interest exclusion — anyone with skin in the deal (sellers, listing agents, known buyers) can't influence the number for that specific property. Plus federated login (Google/Apple) and SMS verification to block fake accounts.
